I am the Office Administrator and your initial contact person. A large component of my job is to schedule appointments with our Child Therapy Specialists as well as Counseling and Mediation sessions with one of our Directors. There are numerous counseling services in Calgary, but what brings people to RMPS are the specialized services we offer. I am looking forward to your call.

Lorri Yasenik

Clinical Director RMPS
Lorri is the Co- Director of Rocky Mountain Psychological Services and Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute. With over 25 years experience in the field, Lorri is a Registered Clinical Social Work Supervisor, Certified and Registered Supervisor of Child Psychotherapy and Play Therapy, Registered Family Mediator and past president of the Alberta Family Mediation Society. Lorri has served as a member of the Clinical Committee, a Regulatory Standing Committee for the Alberta College of Social Work for two terms. Lorri provides assessment and treatment services to children, couples, adult individuals and families for a broad spectrum of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions and separation and divorce. Lorri has specialized training in Parenting Coordination and assists families who are experiencing high conflict post separation and divorce. For over five years she taught for the Conflict Resolution Program at Mount Royal College and the Parenting After Separation Course from 1997-2007. She continues to train nationally and internationally in the areas of specialized treatment for children with Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute and has co-authored books and chapters in the areas of child and play therapy, assessment and supervision.


Ken GardnerKen Gardner M.Sc., R.Psych (CPT-S)
Co-Director RMPS

Ken has been a registered psychologist since 1989 and has practiced in the areas of clinical child psychology and play therapy for over 20 years. Ken has co-authored books and chapters on child/play therapy and is a Certified Play Therapy Supervisor and an approved supervisor of Psychologists in the Alberta. Ken has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with complex emotional and developmental issues. Ken was the director of an intensive treatment program for dually-diagnosed children and adolescents for approximately 10 years. Ken has a strong assessment background, having worked for many years in the areas of developmental and psychoeducational assessments. As an experienced child and family counsellor Ken has acted as a consultant to organizations such as the Calgary School Board regarding children with disruptive behaviours. Frequently, Ken has acted as a community advocate for services to children and families with disabilities and has served on numerous boards in the Calgary region. Currently, Ken is on the Executive Committee for the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (CACPT) and is a long-standing board member for the Calgary SCOPE Society. Ken is an avid runner and cyclist and a former teacher/musician.


AlmaKate Nielsen M.Sc. R. Psych
RMPS Therapist
Kate is a registered psychologist. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a Masters of Science degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. Her masters research examined the nature of close relationships for individuals with social anxiety. She has experience working with individuals, children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings (e.g., at a community agency, at a women’s emergency shelter, and in a residential setting). She has a lot of experience in the areas of separation and divorce, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, behavioural concerns, abuse and trauma, and eating concerns.


SabrinaSabrina Ragan M.Sc., CCC, R.Psych
RMPS Therapist
Sabrina Ragan is a registered psychologist who holds a masters of science degree in marital and family therapy. Sabrina has a variety of experiences in working with individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents in areas such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, stress management, adjustment to life changes, and abuse and trauma. Recently, Sabrina has focused much of her work helping children and parents process and heal from the impact of separation and divorce. She has done several workshops for parents, teachers, and students which focused on child anxiety and how to support and help children develop coping skills. Sabrina has also taught several workshops for masters students on child development. She combines the theory of attachment with solution-focused techniques to provide positive goal-oriented change that focuses on developing healthier relationships.


Nathalie Scott

Nathalie Scott MSW, RSW

Nathalie is a registered social worker and has completed a Master in Social Work with a Clinical Specialization, at the University of Calgary. She has been working with children and families for 7 years and has specialized in play therapy and individual therapy with children and adolescents exposed to family violence. In addition, Nathalie has experience with systemic family therapy, group therapy and filial play therapy. She has worked with a range of presenting issues including trauma, separation and divorce, loss and grief and depression. Nathalie sits on the board for the Alberta Play Therapy Association as a conference coordinator.
